THE FUTURE BELONGS TO THOSE WHO INNOVATE
Our vision is for Canada to be home to a globally-critical, world-leading, wealth and employment generating, vibrant, and sustainable III – V compound semiconductor industry.
Our goal is to build the first ecosystem to foster the development of compound semiconductor technology in Canada.
The unique opportunity
Canada is witnessing a mass exodus of native talent in the semiconductor hardware industry. However, demand for consumer products requiring complex compound semiconductor devices is soaring, and will continue to do so. We will need to source these devices from somewhere if we’re to remain competitive.
Canada is faced with a choice:
Our Solution
SECTR is developing Canada’s industry recognized training organization supporting semiconductor industry ecosystem with leading edge talent needed to succeed and grow in the high tech world.
SECTR’S
ECOSYSTEM FOR TRAINING & RESEARCH
SECTR is developing and delivering training that specifically addresses the talent needs of the semiconductor industry. SECTR will offer industry-recognized certification programs for post-secondary graduates and industry employees to fulfill the needs of industry for skilled talent with a curriculum defined by industry and led by industry veterans, industry (tool) vendors and academics to ensure graduates are job-ready.
HOW WILL CANADA BENEFIT?
Accelerate
Time to
Market
- Reduce the time and cost of R&D, testing, and prototype development
- Increase access to training and research for the next generation of Canada’s design engineers
Improve Product Design
- Provide the capabilities to quickly refine products, manufacture prototypes, and test new designs
- Foster an environment of innovation
Raise Canada’s Profile
- Position us on the world stage as the go-to location for early-stage compound semiconductor technology
- Retain local talent
- Attract international talent and investment
- Protect IP
Our Partners
Canadian start-ups and multinationals in semiconductor design, development, and deployment are joining us to make this ecosystem a reality. They recognize that if we do nothing to foster early-stage prototyping and characterization, Canada will fall further behind the rest of the world.
These companies are looking to address the current supply chain issues of:
- Astronomical prototyping costs, long lead times, and the lack of production facilities
- Being unable to develop our own IP
- Losing Highly Qualified Personnel to other countries
Commercial production facilities are ready to expand but don’t have trained personnel to do so. Post Secondary institutes lack much of the equipment and training capabilities to produce the Highly Qualified Personnel needed to develop, design and support industry.
WE CAN SOLIDIFY OUR REPUTATION AS EXPERTS IN COMPOUND SEMICONDUCTORS FOR PHOTONICS, BUT WE NEED YOU.
